Today I am going to discuss important concepts and questions for Time and Distance. I am sharing all the important question types for bank exams.
Convert Km/h to M/s and vice versa
Simple trick is Km/h * 5/18 = m/s
Average speed
Sinple formula to calculate Average Speed = 2xy/x+y
Here x and y are speed of subject.
Circular track
In a circular track, two person may walk in same direction or in opposite direction.
For example two persons A and B walk in opposite direction and their speed is 3 km/h and 2 km/h respectively. Their relative speed = 3+2 = 5 km /hr
Take another case, for example A and B are moving in same direction , their Relative speed will be 3-2= 1 km/hr.
Relative speed means the speed at which distance between two persons or objects is increases.
Important question
Question
The distance between two cities A and B is 330 Km. A train starts from A at 8 a.m. and travel towards B at 60 km/hr. Another train starts from B at 9 a.m and travels towards A at 75 Km/hr. At what time do they meet? ( IBPS PO 2012)
Remaining distance = 330-60 = 270 km
Relative speed = 60 + 75 = 135 km/h ( We added both speed as they were running in same direction.
Now they will meet after 270/135 = 2 hours
now they will meet at 9 a.m. + 2 hours = 11 a.m.
A and B walk a circulate track. They start at 8 a.m. from the same point in the opposite directions. A and B walk at a speed of 2 rounds per hour and 3 rounds per hour respectively. How many times shall they cross each other before 9.46 a.m?
Solution - A and B shall meet 5 times in an hour. So they meet after every 12 minutes.
For 6th time they meet at = 9:12 a.m.
For 7th time they meet at = 9:24 a.m.
For 8th time they meet at = 9:36 a.m.
For 9th time they meet at = 9:48 a.m.
It's clear from above that by 9:46. they will meet for 8 times.
