Step by Step Bank Exams Preparation Strategy by Sai Kiran

Published on Tuesday, March 17, 2015
Firstly I will start with the note how I have prepared and later I will extend it by giving my strategies to tackle each section

Read Sai Kiran's Success Story here

As I started my preparation for Bank exams from SBI PO 2014 from April 2014 I fixed myself to SBI Po only by hitting it hard within 2months and I prepared for it by practicing each section & each question from Arihant success master & SBI Po practice sets
and Online test series and Descriptive section I prepared by writing a letter or essay or precise daily once on topics of current affair. After practicing so much I could not make it up for SBI PO 2014 and then I started hitting hard increased my time for practice from 10hrs to 14 or 15 hrs by:

English

Read The Hindu newspaper and Prepare a long note book by writing down all vocabulary words & their meanings and read or glance it daily and solve Bankexamstoday's quizzes & online test series of Testpanda.Practice previous year English model papers & PO question papers and from any English competitive practice materials(Kiran publications,Gmat,Gre or any good book).Attempt more with confidence that was my strategy rather than scoring cut off in English because I feel English as a scoring section because we may not know about the correctness of answer as it strictly follows Heisenberg’s Uncertainty principle but still your proficiency & practice levels can give you a Strong confidence to attempt full in English section

For Reasoning

I specially do not relied on any material but I initially learned the concepts & practiced a lot From the sources as I mentioned above and for a Tyro or Beginner I recommend you to purchase Magical book series By BSC publications and solve it for puzzles & rest all are general questions like Coded inequalities, Machine input output, DS, Directions, Blood relationships. Practice reasoning section papers from previous year model papers & PO question papers & CAT books by arihant.

For General awareness

I used to completely depend on +BankExamsToday by writing down daily news from this site & The Hindu, The Economic times and reading each capsule consistently & prepare your own notes on each topic of bank exams like on International organizations, UN bodies, Indian regulators, Abbreviations, Indian financial system-Capital market& money market, Negiotiable instruments, Cheifs of various organizations. Important Days Do some analysis on Current affairs and make your own notes because it will help you for the preparation of interview also parallel.

For quantitative Aptitude-First learn shortcuts for multiplication, division, addition and especially on percentages which is the prerequisite to solve maths questions easily & quickly. Learn formulae for each topic & solve number of different possible ways of questions on it and practice a lot.

Strategy 1

For all those who are facing difficulty in quant section I would like to give some input to make you relaxed. First of all don’t plan yourself to score high in quant even though you are proficient in it .try to attempt optimum number of questions in order to get rid of this section.

As per my experience I would like you people to solve DI first .10 or 15 questions will be from DI.so 15 marks in your pocket and then solve equations (out of 5 at least 2 or 3 u can solve) and then series (out of 5 you can solve 2 or 3 in it).Combining all these u will get around (22/50) or(15/40).All the above questions you can solve within 25 or 30 min and then attempt questions of Ages, partnership, percentages, ratios,Boats & streams, Time & work,SI & CI whichever you feel like easy attempt them in last 10 or 15 min.so it may increase your attempts in quant by (28-32/50) in quant & (22-26/40).So it is safe & good score in quant section

Strategy 2

Proper time management-As it is very important & deciding factor in exams so I would like to tell how I would approach in my examination-

Computer & GK-10min

English-30min

Reasoning-40min

Maths-40min

Strategy 3

I would like people to score maximum in Reasoning, GK & English by attempting maximum with confidence. Because getting shortlisted is not the great thing, scoring high in written will relax you for some moment & boost you for your interview

As I used to solve many books & spend my time on many magazines will share all the things which I have done so take the best out of it-

Newspapers-The hindu. The economic times (min 1 hour daily)

Magazines -Bsc monthly edition, Competition in focus, Pratyogita darpan

Books - Kiran publications IBPS PO IV,SO IV(long practice books), Bankexamtoday Correspondence course, Data interpretation by arun Sharma, Quantum cat by sarvesh k verma,Logical reasoning by piyush bhardwaj,Youtube videos and many practice materials I used to take hard copy & prepare my own notes

Online test series - Bsc, Testpanda

Followed sites - Banksexamstoday,  Rbi.org. allindiabankingsolutions.com,

Hope this all may help you to some extent & wishing you all the best for your career.
