1st April will always be memorable in my life. I Finally got my dream job after a long struggle of 1 and ½ years.
The Start
The journey was not easy as I being a engineering student from 2011 batch. After my college I was placed in top MNC and I was extremely happy about it.
I worked for about 2 years in IT and I being a electronics and communication engineer found it difficult to learn coding and all. Because of which I found no growth as the technology which I was working was about to be scrapped as they were replacing new technologies. I had to decide whether to continue in IT or choose a different path. This affected my performance and unfortunately due to internal problems I lost my job in Aug’13.
I started searching jobs and appearing interviews but all I had to face is rejection. I went through sleepless nights, depression and breakdown. I cried day and night as it got difficult to face friends and relatives. I was jobless for almost 5 months. Those were worst days of my life.
At that time my sister who was appearing for bank exams advised me to also give these exams. I felt as got a ray of hope and made up my mind to get a government job which has a respectable status and job security.
Meanwhile to meet financial needs I took a job as lecturer in Polytechnic college as I could get lots of time for preparation.
The preparation
I started my daily study from basics by practicing R.S.Agarwal and various old papers.
I practiced reasoning and Quants a lot but when I appeared for 1st time for IBPS clerk 3 I was completely messed up.
I left like total failure. I couldn’t even solve simple maths questions.
I started my preparation again and started ‘SWOT’ analysis. I realized I was lacking in Quants and current affairs.
I solved Quants every single day from different previous years papers and current affairs capsules proved very beneficial. Computers was my strong part as I had engineering background.
Thereafter I appeared for almost 12 exams in a span of 1 year and faced failures and success also.
My attempts
- IBPS Clerk- III (missed by 8 marks )
- IBPS SPL – III (not cleared)
- SBI SO ( not cleared)
- SBI Assistant (missed by 5 marks )
- RBI Assistant (missed by 7 marks )
- IBPS PO-IV (missed by 15 marks )
- IBPS Clerk – IV (selected BOB final : 61 marks)
- SBI PO Assosiates (not cleared)
- NIA AO (not cleared)
- NIA Assistant ( cleared, Interview on 7th April)
- SBI Associates Assistant (Result Awaited)
- IBPS SPL – IV (not cleared)
I missed many exams by meager margin.
With every failure I realized I need to improve myself for time management, practice and tricks. With days passing I felt confident and decided never to move back.
Most important I started allotting time limit for different exams as per strength and weakness. I gave only 15 mins for both General awareness and Computers and 45 mins for Quants.
The D- Day
On 1st April my joy knew no bounds as I heard my result and my parents almost cried for my success.
I got selected in Bank of Baroda : India’s International Bank. I was extremely happy as this was my first preference.
God finally listened my prayers and gave me my dream job.
I would like to thank Raman Sir and his website Bankexamstodayfor his support and study material which helped a lot for current affairs and other sections.
The GK Digest from this website is more than enough to score more than 70% marks in General Awareness Section.
Positive approach
There are lots of opportunities in banking and insurance sector. I kept a positive attitude and I can win attitude.
There will be friends and relatives who demoralize for competition of exams but we need to be firm to reach towards our goal.
Almost all the questions are repetitive make notes, improve skills, read newspapers, learn new tricks and learn the statergy.
Learn to rise after every fall.
Friends I know how it feels to be unemployed…But trust yourself and God…the day you are selected you will forget all the pains and enjoy every moment.
My goal doesn’t stop here as I will start my preparations for PO now and the journey begins now….
I need two things in this journey : Faith in self and patience towards LIFE….and I would say PATIENCE WORKS WONDERS J
While walking you will find many dogs on your way barking…just keep biscuits and keep moving…Success is your’s as winners never quit…
