English Language Guide for SSC CGL Tier 2

Staff Selection Commission is going to conduct SSC CGL Tier 2015 in last week of October. There will be 200 questions in the exam. Each question carries 1 mark, there is negative marking of 0.25

Attempt low accuracy topics at the end

There are few question types which have bad reputation of yielding low accuracy. Attempt these questions at the end
  1. Para jumbles
  2. Reading comprehensions
  3. Spotting errors

Revise Grammar

Having strong hold on grammar is really important for this section. Read my basic English Grammar digest. If you are already having a good Grammar book then revise it.

Read long paragraphs from the newspaper

From past many months I am recommending all of you to follow "The Hindu" or "The Indian Express". Many of you have started reading it daily. But you are reading just headlines or small paragraphs. 

Read those long and boring paragraphs from "Editorial and Opinions" page. Most intelligent people of the editorial board write those articles and by reading those articles, you will learn to comprehend the theme and tone of comprehensions,

Go through all types of questions

I already gave you all the expected question types. Time is not a constraint in this paper but accuracy is really important. Practice all the question types.

Solve practice papers

Solve few practice paper at home, this will help you to discover your weaknesses so that you can timely remove those weaknesses and your probability to succeed.
