Data Interpretation (Bar Graph & Line Graph)
Directions (Q. 1-5): The bar graph shows the total number of children in five different school and the line graph shows the percentage of girls in them.
1. What is the approximate percentage of boys in School P and R together?
a) 66%
b) 78%
c) 81%
d) 84%
e) 77%
2. What is the total number of boys in School S and School T together?
a) 3045
b) 3054
c) 3085
d) 3025
e) 3042
3. What is the average number of boys in School R and School T together?
a) 1612
b) 1625
c) 1675
d) 1655
e) 1635
4. What is the ratio of the number of girls in School P to the number of boys in School T?
a) 35:8
b) 6:35
c) 7:35
d) 35:3
e) None of these
5. The number of boys in School T is approximately what per cent of the number of girls in School S?
a) 778%
b) 775%
c) 730%
d) 788%
e) 745%
Solution
1.
e
Number
of boys in School P= 1500*(80/100) = 1200
Number
of boys in School R= 2000*(75/100) = 1500
Total
number of students in P & R together = 1500+2000 = 3500
So,
required % = (2700/3500)*100=77.14% = 77 (approx)
2.
d
Total
number of boys in school S & T together is
= 1500*(85/100)
+2500*(70/100)
= 1275+1750
= 3026
3.
b
Required
Average is
= ½[2000*(75/100)
+2500*(70/100)]
= ½[1500+1750]
= ½*3250
= 1625
4.
b
Required
Ratio is
= 1500*(20/100):2500(70/100)
= 6:35
5.
a
Number
of boys in School T = 2500*(70/100) = 1750
Number
of girls in School S = 1500*(15/100) = 225
Required
% = (1750/225)*100 = 777.77%= 778 (approx)
