Ques 1.

P and Q start a business by investing 5,000 and 10,000 respectively . Find the ratio of their profit after 2 years ?

Solution :

Ratio = 5000*2 : 10000*2 = 1:2

Ques 2.

P and Q jointly started a business . The investments of P is equal to 3 times the investment of Q . Find the share of P in annual profit of 10,400.

Solution :

Share of P = 3x
Share of Q = x

==> 3x+x =10,400
==> 4x = 10,400
==> X = 2,600

P's share = 3*2600 = 7800

Ques 3.

P and Q invested 24000 and 8000 for a period of 2 years . After 2 years  , they earned 36000 . What will be the shares of P and Q out of this earning ?

Solution :

Profit ratio = 24000 : 8000 = 3:1

P = (3*36000)/4  = 27,000
Q = 36000-27,000 = 9,000

Ques 4.

P starts business with 3000 and P joins him after 3 months with 9000 . Find the ratio of their profits at the end of the year ?

Solution :

Ratio = 3000*12 months : 9000*9 months  
==> Ratio = 36 : 81
==> Ratio = 4 : 9

Ques 5.

P starts business with 4000 and Q joins the business 4 months later with an investment of 6000 . After 1 year  ,they earn a profit of 20000 . Find the Share of Q ?

Solution : 

Ratio = 4000*12 : 6000*8 = 1:1

Q share in profit = 20000/2 = 10000

Ques 6.

P starts business with 3000 . Q joins him after 3 months with 5000 . R invests a sum of 10000 in the business for 3 months only . At end of the year , the business gave profit of 100000 . What is the share of both P and Q ?

Solution :

Investment Ratio of P,Q and R = 3000*12 : 5000(12-3) : 10000*3
==> P:Q:R = 36000 : 45000 : 30000
==> P:Q;R = 36:45:30 = 12:15:10

Ques 7.

P,Q and R invested capital in the ratio of 2:3:5 . At the end of the business terms , they received the profit in the ratio 5:3:12 . Find the ratio of time for which they contributed their capitals ?

Solution : 

Ratio = (5/2) : (3/3) : (12/5) 
==> Ratio = 5/2 : 1 : 12/5 
==> Ratio = 25:10:24

Ques 8.

P starts a business with 5000 and Q joins him after 3 months with 15000 . Find the ratio of their profits at the end of years ?

Solution : 

Ratio = 5000*12 : 15000*9 
==> Ratio = 60 : 135
==> Ratio = 4 : 9 

Ques 9.

A , B and C start a business by investing 5000 , 8000 and 12,000 respectively . At the end of year, they got the profit of 12500. What is the share of B in profit ?

Solution : 

Ratio = 5:8:12
Total Profit = 12,500
B's share = 8/25 *12500 = 4000

Ques 10.

P and Q make a partnership . P invests 8000 for 8 months and Q remains in the business for 4 months . Out of the total profit  ,Q claims 2/7 of the profit . How much money was contributed by Q ?

Solution : 

P gets profit = 1 -(2/7) = 5/7 

P : Q = 5/7 : 2/7 = 5: 2

==> (8000*8) : (x*4) = 5:2
==> X = 6400
