Exam Strategy For SBI PO Prelims 2017

Published on Saturday, April 22, 2017
Hi Readers, the SBI PO Prelims 2017 is approaching fast and you all have been toiling up day and night to prepare and clear the exam. This article will help you to tackle the exam efficiently because we have come up with the most effective exam strategy for our readers. So, let's start.

As per the SBI PO exam pattern, there are three sections

  • Reasoning: 35 Questions
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 35 Questions
  • English: 30 Questions

Overall you have to attempt 100 questions in 60 minutes.

Time Management

Now, the question that arises in everyone's mind is how to manage the time during the exam because no aspirant can clear this exam without an accurate time-management strategy. Here is the answer to this confusion.

Divide your time for each section

The allocation of time depends upon the difficulty level of each section. Suppose the English section is easy and quantitative aptitude is difficult, then you can allocation extra 5-10 minutes that you saved from English section to the quantitative aptitude section.

Section-wise strategy to attempt the paper

English

English being the easier section consumes less time, thus opt for this section first. Try to solve the section in the following order

Reading Comprehension should be done in the end if you find enough time to spend on it.
A good command over English vocabulary will be your armour to save you from reading the whole paragraph to attempt synonym/antonym questions or idioms/phrases questions.

Reasoning

Solve the questions in the following order

The above-mentioned topics are easy to attempt if you have done enough practice. After you have attempted these questions, go for the difficult questions like puzzles or seating arrangements. Stick to the time limit and skip the questions that you are unable to solve.

Quantitative Aptitude

This section is mainly divided into 5 types of topics as mentioned below:

To attempt this section, you must do the DI and number series questions first, then according to your command over the topics pick the easier ones. Miscellaneous questions can be difficult so, I would suggest you skip those.

According to the above strategy, you will be able to attempt at least 60-80 questions which are a great attempt.
I personally advise you to stay calm and positive during exam even though you come across some difficult questions. Trust yourself and your skills. Try to follow the time and stop worrying about the result. Give your 100% and that is how you can win every battle of life.
