Introduction
On 1 April 2017, the central government is planning to launch a new scheme to uplift the participation of women in entrepreneurship; also, the government is working on ‘Start up India’ initiative that will give women entrepreneurs a chance to make it big. For this initiative, the
government has tied up with few US technology giants with the funding support of Rs 100 crore.Some important facts:
- Initially, the Start-up India scheme for women would be launched in 10 cities.
- Women who become part of the scheme will be provided with institutional mentoring, with dedicated resources pooled from the private and public sector to work with them to encourage and scale up their enterprises.
- The scheme will address the concern with government funding and venture capital funding to nurture the business ideas brought by women also for this initiative the government consulted with NASSCOM, Facebook and Google to give a robust backing to the Start Up scheme for the women.The scheme has been finalised as part of the drive of the NITI Aayog to promote participation of women in workforce.
- The Start Up scheme will be unveiled on April 1 with an initial dedicated fund of Rs 100 crores.
