Exam Strategy for New Pattern of SBI Clerk Exam 2018

Dear Aspirants,
Since the SBI has released the notification for the recruitment for the post of Junior Associates, it is very important to know the new changes in the pattern for this year Examination.
This year SBI has brought a huge change in the pattern and the selection process.
Here it is:-

Preliminary Examination:

  • The time allocation of 20 minutes for each three sections i.e. English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability.
  • No sectional cut-offs.
  • No overall cut-offs.
  • Selection of candidates for the Main Examination, approx. 10 times the number of vacancies, from the list of all candidates arranged in descending order of aggregate marks scored.

Exam Strategy

Quantitative Aptitude:

  • Practice as much as you can and master some of the topics which surely come in the exam, go through the syllabus and pick one topic on daily basis and practice it completely.
  • The books that will teach you all basic concepts are M.Tyra, Quantitative Aptitude Made Easy by Ramandeep Singh.Practice Data Interpretation like the bar chart, line graph and Pie chart as it's a hot topic from last few years.
  • Once your basics are clear you can easily master your DI in one go which will contribute to excellent scores.To improve your speed learn square root, cube root so that you can get the answers in a little bit of time. Try to discover shortcut and tricks to solve questions quickly.

Reasoning

This section also plays a vital role and all you need to do is practice all advanced questions by taking mock test and focus on crucial topics like Puzzles, Blood Relation, Direction Sense, New Coding and Decoding, Syllogism, Reverse Syllogism that will help you to cater more scores.
As the difficulty level of reasoning subject is increasing exam by exam so, try some new questions by taking 2 or 3 mocks daily and solve an ample number of new pattern questions.


English

As nowadays English subject is really a hard nut to crack for several students to score well in this exam.The simple way to score high in this subject is to be in love with this language by reading one newspaper daily, focus on the editorials, master the grammatical rules, try to comprehend passages in your own language. Solve at least 2 RC passage daily. Pick error spotting practice sets according to low to the high difficulty level.

General Awareness:

As the syllabus of General Awareness is very vast and aspirants have to prepare current news, banking, and financial awareness as well as static Gk.
Go through newspaper daily and visit bankexamtoday.com and GKdigest.com on daily basis and go through current news which is beneficial for every student and by reading "Principle and Practice of Banking" book which is going to help you to clear your doubts about banking.
Pick one topic of Static and cram it with tricks. Don't buy any type of books because the more you read on the internet the more you score well in the exam.

Computer:

In this section, you can score more by giving less time and all you need basic proficiency in the computer to clear this section. You can download computer ebooks from bankexamtoday.com
Last but not the least give 1 or 2 mock test daily for Prelims and 1 for mains, analyze it genuinely by giving yourself rating and find out where you are lacking.
