- Purpose: To reduce the burden of electricity bills of the poor households and to provide quality energy to every household.
Key feature:
- Under this scheme, about 95 lakh families will get four 9-watt LED bulbs for free of cost.
- The eligibility criteria to avail this scheme are:
- The beneficiaries must register under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the State Food Security Scheme (SFSC).
- Also, they have to produce biometric authentication.
- The LED bulbs will be distributed through camps and Public Distribution Shop (PDS) outlets.
- The distribution of LED bulbs will begin at the PEETHA (Peoples Empowerment – Enabling Transparency and Accountability of Odisha Initiatives) camps.
- Total of 3.8 crores LED bulbs are required for the purpose.
Scheme Benefits:
- People can use low energy consumable LED bulbs, which in turn cause low energy consumption and low electricity bill.
About PEETHA Scheme:
- The scheme is about to create awareness for various schemes of the government. This scheme is a sub-scheme of Ama Gaon Ama Bikas Yojana. Under this scheme, Rs. 5 lakh will be given to the best panchayat in each block every month for organising PEETHA.
