Objective- 

  1. To increase the percentage of registered marriage in Assam.
  2. To prevent child marriage and to fix the present age of the marriage at 18years.

Key features

  1. Assam Government has launched this scheme for newlywed of Assam with an objective to increase the percentage of registered marriage.
  2. According to the scheme, firstly it was decided to give 10gram of gold to all the beneficiaries but later it was mentioned to give Rs.30000 to all the beneficiaries which will be utilized in buying gold for the newlywed.
  3. For getting the benefit of the scheme, there is no need to fill any application form but the marriage should be registered by the beneficiary under the special marriage (Assam) rules 1954.

Eligibility

  • The beneficiary must be newly wedded.
  • The age of the girl must be at least 18years and that of the boy must be at least 21years.
  • The girl must have passed 10th Standard and the scheme is eligible only for the first marriage of the girl.
  • The annual income of the beneficiary bride’s family must be less than Rs.5lakh.
