1. Sharankumar Limbale

  • Marathi writer Dr Sharankumar Limbale receives Saraswathi Samman for 2020.
  • He is awarded for his Novel titled “Sanatan” written in 2018. The book “Sanatan” tells about the socio-cultural struggles of the untouchables. Saraswathi Samman is given outstanding literary works from 22 Indian languages.

2. Subhash Kumar

  • Subhash Kumar assumes the charges as Chairman and Managing Director(CMD) of ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation). He replaces CMD Shashi Shanker due to his retirement. Subhash Kumar is the present Finance Director of ONGC.

3. Rajesh Kumar Chhibber

  • Rajesh Kumar Chhibber (R K Chhibber), the Chairman and Managing Director of Jammu & Kashmir for further 6 months or till the appointment of MD & CEO whichever is earlier. He has replaced Parvez Ahmed in order to increase the transparency and profitability of the lender. Jammu & Kashmir Bank was incorporated in 1938 and its Headquarter is Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.

4. Kamalpreet Kaur

  • Kamalpreet Kaur, an Indian women Discus thrower qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games held in Japan (from July 23 – 8 August 2021). She became the 1st Indian Women to cross 65m barrier in the discus throw. Kamalpreet Kaur is from Badal Village, Sri Muktsar Sahib district of Punjab.

5. Rajinikanth

  • Rajinikanth to be Honoured with 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2019. Rajinikanth is 70 years old and he is the 12th south Indian Actor to receive this award. Dadasaheb Phalke award is the highest honour for artists in the Indian Film Industry.

6. Carmen Maria Machado

  • Carmen Maria Machado wins Rathbones Folio Literary Prize for 2021 for the work “In the dream house” released in 2019. Rathbones Folio literary prize is for Fiction, non-fiction and poetry work all over the world and it is given by London based publisher “The Folio Society”.

7. Virat Kohli

  • Virat Kohli, an Indian cricketer became Brand Ambassador for Digital Insurance company, a general insurance company & Vivo Communication Technology Co. Ltd. Other Ambassadors for Vivo are Amir Khan and Sara Ali Khan. Digital Insurance company is Headquarters in Bengaluru, Karnataka with a valuation of 1.9 Billion USD (approx. Rs. 13918 crores) and Vijay Kumar as CEO.

8. Mallika Srinivasan

  • Mallika Srinivasan is appointed as the Chairperson of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). She is the Chairman and Managing Director of Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE). She is the first private sector specialist to be appointed in PESB. The main role of PESB is the appointment of top management posts in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).

  • Mukhmeet S Bhatia takes charge as the Director General (DG) of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). ESIC headquarters in New Delhi and comes under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, GOI. Mukhmeet S Bhatia previously served as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.

  • Former RBI Governor Urjit Patel is appointed as Non-Executive and Independent Director of Britannia Industry for the period of 5 years from 31st March 2021 to 30th March 2026. Currently, he is on the Investment Advisory Committee of the Army Group Insurance.

12. Biswabhusan Harichadan

  • AP Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan receives Kalinga Ratna Samman 2021 award by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu in Cuttack. Kalinga Ratna Samman is given for the person of Odisha who has contributed to any field at the National or International Level.

13. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu

  • Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu becomes Kosovo’s 7th President succeeding Hashim Thaci. She is the country’s youngest head of the State and one of the youngest Presidents in the world. The capital of Kosovo is Pristina and the currency is Euro.

14. Nguyen Xuan Phuc

  • Nguyen Xuan Phuc is Sworn in as President of Vietnam replacing Nguyen Phu Trong and Pham Minh Chinh elected as the New Prime Minister of Vietnam. The capital of Vietnam is Hanoi and the currency is the Vietnamese Dong.

  • Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou is the New Prime Minister of Niger and succeeds Brigi Rafini. The capital of Niger is Niamey and the currency is West African CFA Franc.

  • Nethra Kumanan Becomes the 1st Indian Woman sailor to Qualify for Olympics under Laser Radial Category.

21. Poonam Gupta

  • Poonam Gupta is appointed as the first woman Director General(DG) of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). Poonam Gupta has been working with the World Bank since 2013.

22. Prithvi Shaw

  • Indian Batsman Prithvi Shaw is appointed as the Brand Ambassador of SportzXchange, a fantasy sports platform.

23. Kalpana Sampat

  • Kalpana Sampat is appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Pramerica Life Insurance succeeding Annop Pabby. She previously works as the Chief Operating Officer of the company. Pramerica Life Insurance Limited is the joint venture of DHFL Investment Limited(DIL) and Prudential International Insurance Holdings, Ltd (PIIH) and Headquarters in Gurgaon, Haryana.

  • Saudi Activist Loujain Al-Hathloul was awarded the Vaclav Havel Human Rights prize by Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). This prize is a top European Human Rights Prize, mainly given in recognition for woman’s right activist. Loujain had a fight for women’s right in Saudi including ending a ban on women driving.
