Seventh Edition of the bilateral Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2023 (JIMEX 23)

  • The seventh edition of JIMEX 23 was hosted by the Indian Navy at/ off Visakhapatnam from 05 -10 July 2023.
  • It involved advanced-level exercises in surface, sub-surface, and air domains, along with the participation of ships, submarines, fighter aircraft, and maritime patrol aircraft.

India and Tanzania begin trade settlements in local currencies

  • This new initiative will help in promoting commerce between the two countries, which stood at $6.4 billion in 2022-23.
  • He also said that the India central bank has cleared this possibility and few transactions have already taken place in the local currencies.

Home Minister Amit Shah launched Make in India “Akshar River Cruise”

  • The cruise is the first passenger catamaran built in the country under Make in India at a cost of Rs 15 crore with twin engines and it can safely travel for one and a half hours.
  • The cruise has a capacity of 165 passengers and also has a restaurant. It is developed under Public Private Partnership by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited.

  • The partnership aims to drive credit inclusion and expand access to credit for small merchants and consumers, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
  • Paytm will leverage its technology infrastructure and fintech leadership as a loan service provider (LSP) to digitally distribute Shriram Finance’s products on its platform.

Tata AIA Revolutionizes Insurance Payments with WhatsApp and UPI Integration

  • The feature allows customers to pay their premiums instantly and conveniently through WhatsApp and UPI-enabled payment options, such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc.
  • The customers just need to open WhatsApp and launch the Tata AIA Life Insurance chat, send a ‘Hi’ and follow the instructions to complete the payment. They will receive a confirmation and acknowledgement message once the payment is done.
